RESIDENT EDUCATION
Resident education involves multiple evaluations of resident performance with laparoscopic trainers, robotic drills as well as IRB approved studies that evaluate surgical performance in the setting of fatigue. Our drill set will provide a framework for future assessment of performance in robotics
A conditional Hidden Markov Model was designed to classify the performance into experts and novices. The classifier was trained on the first fifty percent of the data and tested on the remaining fifty percent. The tests below demonstrate initial findings with Mobile Precision Beads, Simple Rope Pass , Beaded String Pass , Russian Roulette, Minefield, and various suturing exercises.

| The bead pass is used to evaluate how surgeons are able to use visual cues to overcome the lack of haptic feedback with the system. | |

The Beaded String Pass demonstrates the need to combine a complex task that overcomes the limited haptics. |
